Market Status, Resolution and Data Integrity

FPT does not apply a universal cutoff before a market expires. What is restricted is trading in markets that are unavailable, resolving, disputed, stale or technically unreliable — and conduct that profits from an FPT data or platform error rather than from market risk.

Contents (8 sections)

This article is incorporated by reference into the FPT Scale Program Agreement and is listed, with its version and effective date, in the Current FPT Scale Rules Index. It is a binding rules document, not a summary.

Prediction markets end. A market stops trading, an outcome is determined, and the market resolves. Around those moments the market data FPT depends on can become thin, stale, contested or simply wrong — and a simulated fill built on wrong data is not a measurement of trading skill.

This article states what FPT restricts around those moments, and what it does not.

FPT does not apply a universal cutoff before expiration. There is no blanket 30-second, 60-second, one-minute or other fixed pre-expiration window in which entries stop being accepted. Trading a market in good faith while it is open and priced is ordinary trading, and it stays permitted right up to the moment the market itself stops being tradeable.

1. Scope

1.1. This article applies to every FPT Scale account of every size, in both the evaluation stage and the funded stage.

1.2. All FPT accounts are simulated. FPT does not route customer orders to Polymarket, Kalshi or any other venue and does not execute live trades for customers. Everything in this article is a control inside the FPT simulation, applied to the FPT market data set.

1.3. Where this article and a marketing page, an FAQ answer or an unversioned support message disagree, this article controls. Where this article and the Program Agreement disagree, the Program Agreement controls.

2. There Is No Fixed Late-Entry Cutoff

2.1. FPT will not launch with a fixed period before expiration during which new positions are refused. An earlier version of this article said such a cutoff existed and that its exact length would be published before launch. That rule has been withdrawn, and this article replaces it.

2.2. The reason is that the cutoff would have duplicated protections FPT already has, while catching ordinary traders in the process. The risks a late-entry window was reaching for are already covered by:

  • live market pricing, so a fill is priced against the market as it actually is;
  • liquidity-aware simulated fills, so a fill has to be plausible at the size requested;
  • the rule against stale-price fills in How Simulated Fills Are Determined;
  • your account's max open size and the 5% market-volume limit in Max Open Size and Market-Volume Limits;
  • the five qualifying-day and 40% consistency requirements, which a single well-timed trade cannot satisfy;
  • the good-faith trading rules; and
  • the data- and platform-exploitation prohibitions in section 5 below.

2.3. A market can still stop accepting entries. What section 2.1 removes is a universal clock-based cutoff. Section 3 sets out the market states in which FPT restricts activity, and a market approaching resolution frequently enters one of them.

2.4. Trading near an expiration is not, by itself, evidence of anything. FPT does not treat it as a breach, does not treat it as a reason to deny a payout, and does not count it against an account in review.

3. Restricted Market States

3.1. FPT may restrict opening or increasing a position in a market that is in any of the following states.

StateWhat it meansWhat FPT may do
UnavailableThe market is not in the FPT tradeable set, or the source has stopped publishing itNot tradeable
Halted or closedThe venue has stopped trading in the marketOpening and increasing suspended
ResolvingThe market has stopped trading and is awaiting its outcomeNot tradeable
DisputedThe resolution is contested, delayed, corrected or withdrawn at its sourceRestricted, suspended or removed while reviewed
StaleFPT's price or status data for the market is delayed, frozen or not updatingOrders rejected or repriced
IlliquidVolume or depth is too thin to support a plausible simulated fillRestricted, or size limited by the 5% rule
Technically unreliableFPT has reason to doubt the data for the marketRestricted earlier than any other rule would require

3.2. A market that has expired and is awaiting resolution is not tradeable on FPT.

3.3. Where a resolution at the underlying source is later corrected, FPT may adjust the corresponding simulated position or account record so the account reflects the corrected outcome rather than the erroneous one. See Market Resolution and Data Dependencies.

3.4. FPT may restrict a specific market earlier than any of the above requires, where that is reasonably necessary for data integrity or risk. Restrictions of that kind are described in Temporary Market Restrictions.

4. What FPT May Do With an Order

4.1. FPT may reject a simulated order where the market data it would be priced against is stale, missing or unavailable.

4.2. FPT may reprice a simulated order to the price its own data supports, rather than filling it at a price the market no longer offers.

4.3. FPT may suspend opening or increasing positions in any market in a state listed in section 3, while leaving existing positions alone.

4.4. Where the platform permits it, closing or reducing an existing position is treated separately from opening a new one. Where a market's state makes closing impossible — a halted or resolving market, for instance — the position remains open until the market resolves, and the resolution is applied to it.

4.5. The dashboard shows a market's state on the market itself, so a restriction is visible before you build an order rather than only at submission.

4.6. A rejected order is not queued for later and does not become live when the market's state changes.

5. Prohibited Data and Platform Exploitation

5.1. FPT does not prohibit arbitrage as a category. Prices differ across venues and across time, and acting on a genuine price discrepancy is part of trading a prediction market. What is prohibited is profiting from an FPT error rather than from market risk.

5.2. The following are prohibited:

  1. Exploiting stale or delayed FPT data — entering or exiting against a price you have reason to believe FPT is showing incorrectly or has stopped updating.
  2. Trading on an outcome already known but not yet reflected in FPT's data — taking a position in a market whose real-world result is already determined, before FPT's data catches up.
  3. Latency exploitation — systematically acting on the gap between FPT's data and the market it is derived from.
  4. Manipulating or exploiting simulated-fill logic — order patterns designed to obtain fills the liquidity model would not otherwise support, including probing for sizes, prices or market states that produce an unintended fill.
  5. Coordinated or offsetting activity across related accounts intended to defeat FPT's risk controls — for example, taking opposite sides of the same market across accounts so that one account is guaranteed to pass whatever happens.
  6. Exploiting incorrect market status or resolution data — trading a market you have reason to believe FPT has mis-flagged as open, closed, resolved or unresolved.
  7. Repeated behaviour whose expected profitability depends on a platform error rather than on market risk, whether or not any individual order was accepted by the system.

5.3. Each of these is a breach under Good-Faith Trading and Prohibited Conduct and may result in review, denial of a payout, or termination of the account.

5.4. An order being accepted by the trading system is not a finding that the conduct behind it was permitted. Section 5.2 describes conduct; it is not a list of orders the system blocks.

6. What This Article Does Not Change

6.1. It does not change your position limits. Your allowed position size remains the lower of your account max open size or 5% of that market's trailing 24-hour volume.

6.2. It does not change your objectives. The profit target, maximum loss, EOD trailing drawdown with intraday enforcement, the 40% consistency rule and the five qualifying profitable days are unaffected. See Complete Evaluation Rules by Account Size.

6.3. It does not guarantee that a market will stay tradeable. A market may be restricted at any time for the reasons in section 3.

6.4. It does not create a trading-hours rule. FPT Trading Days run midnight to 11:59:59 PM Eastern Time and prediction markets trade continuously; FPT does not import a session close from any other asset class.

7. Changes to This Article

7.1. Market-status and data-integrity controls protect the integrity of the simulation and apply to all accounts from their effective date, with dashboard notice before a tightening takes effect.

7.2. Each purchase records the version of this article in force at the time. A material change bumps the version number; a non-material change updates the last-updated date only.

7.3. This article replaces Market Expiration and Late-Entry Restrictions (rule id rule-market-timing, version 1.0, effective 2026-08-04), which is retired. The retired rule and the reason for its retirement are recorded in the Current FPT Scale Rules Index. No purchase was made under that version.
