A funded FPT account is a simulated performance account. It is not a brokerage account, it is not a live trading account, and no live capital is allocated to you — unless FPT separately confirms a live arrangement with you in writing, which is a different thing and is never automatic.
The payouts are the part that is real. Money paid to a funded trader under the FPT Scale rules is real, company-funded compensation paid by FPT. It is not a withdrawal of a deposit, not an investment return, and not winnings.
Both of those sentences are true at the same time, and holding them together is the whole point of this article.
What Is Simulated
Inside your funded account, the following are simulated:
- your account balance and equity
- your orders, positions and fills
- your profit and loss
- the max open size and drawdown floor applied to the account
Your orders are not routed to Polymarket, Kalshi or any other exchange. FPT does not hold customer funds, does not take deposits, and does not execute live trades for customers.
Simulated fills consider live market price and available liquidity — they are not stale-price fills — but estimated slippage and price impact remain estimates and are not guaranteed. See How Simulated Fills Are Determined.
What Is Real
- The payout. Approved payouts are paid by FPT out of FPT's own funds, under the 90% trader / 10% firm split.
- The market data. You are trading against real Polymarket and Kalshi market conditions, not an invented price series.
- The rules. The evaluation and funded objectives are real constraints on a real account record, enforced by the platform.
- The obligation. When you meet the published rules, the payout obligation is FPT's.
Why "Account Size" Is Not Cash
A "$50k FPT Scale account" describes the size of the simulated account and the set of parameters attached to it — profit target, maximum loss, drawdown floor, max open size, qualifying-day minimum and payout caps.
It is not $50,000 of cash, capital, funding or buying power belonging to you. You never gain a right to withdraw $50,000, and you are never at risk of owing $50,000. The number sizes the risk framework; the payout rules size what you can be paid.
| Term you will see | What it actually refers to |
|---|---|
| Funded account | A simulated performance account activated after a passed evaluation |
| Account size | The size of the simulated account and its rule parameters |
| Funded allocation | The simulated allocation the account trades under |
| Payout | Real company-funded compensation from FPT |
| Profit split | The 90/10 division applied to payable performance |
Why the Marketing Words Are Still Used
FPT uses "funded trader", "get funded", "payout", "profit split" and "scale" because that is the vocabulary the industry and its traders actually use. Those words are not a claim that FPT gave you money to trade with. Where the words need precision — a contract, a rules article, a payout decision — this Help Center and the FPT Scale Program Agreement define them exactly, and the definition controls.
What FPT Is Not
FPT is not a brokerage, exchange, custodian, investment adviser, portfolio manager, bank, financial institution or trading venue.
FPT is a software-based simulated trader evaluation company. It provides simulated event-market evaluation accounts, trader analytics and risk-assessment tools.
FPT is also not affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by Polymarket, Kalshi or TruthTick unless expressly stated. Third-party trademarks belong to their respective owners. See Third-Party Platform Non-Affiliation.
And Live Capital?
FPT may, at its discretion, review high-performing traders for a future live-capital opportunity. That opportunity is entirely discretionary, is never guaranteed, is not earned automatically by any level of performance, and would require a separate written agreement.
Nothing in the funded stage — no number of approved payouts, no scaling milestone, no length of time — creates a right to it. The honest version is in Future Live-Capital Review.
If you are choosing between prop firms on the strength of what "funded" means, read this page and the Simulation and Risk Disclosure before you buy, not after.
