Your payout cap is the most a single approved payout can pay you. It starts at the first milestone of your account's scaling table and rises with each approved payout until it reaches a terminal maximum.
Payout caps are stated net to the trader. A $1,000 cap means $1,000 in your hands after the 90/10 split mechanics are handled internally. You do not deduct the firm's 10% from a published cap a second time.
The Caps by Account Size
| Milestone | $25k | $50k | $100k |
|---|---|---|---|
| Funded start | — | — | — |
| 1st approved payout | $500 | $1,000 | $1,500 |
| 2nd approved payout | $750 | $1,500 | $2,000 |
| 3rd approved payout | $1,000 | $2,000 | $2,500 |
| 4th and later | $1,500 max | $2,500 max | $3,500 max |
There is no payout cap at the funded start because no payout has been approved yet. The full tables, with max open size alongside each cap, are in Scaling Tables by Account Size.
What Moves You Up a Row
An approved payout, and nothing else.
- A payout request that has not been approved does not move you up.
- A profitable day, or five of them, does not move you up on its own.
- A denied payout does not move you up.
The new cap applies from the moment the payout is approved. It is not backdated to the cycle that earned it, so the payout you have just been approved for is paid at the row it triggered, not the next one.
Worked Example — $100k Scale
- First payout cycle completes. The trader has five qualifying days at $200 or more and satisfies the 40% consistency rule. Cycle profit is $4,100.
- The payout is approved. The cap for a first approved payout on a $100k account is $1,500 net, so the trader receives $1,500.
- The account moves to the second-payout row. The next approved payout is capped at $2,000.
- Then $2,500 at the third.
- From the fourth approved payout onward the cap is $3,500, and it stays there. That row is terminal.
What the Cap Does Not Do
The cap limits the payout, not the account.
Profit above the cap is not deleted or clawed back. It stays in the simulated account balance and remains subject to the account's risk limits. It is also still counted for the purpose of the 40% payout-cycle consistency check on the cycle it belongs to.
The cap also does not change the split. The 90/10 split is the same at every milestone and every account size — see The 90/10 Profit Split.
The Monthly Maximum Sits Above the Caps
Payout caps are per approved payout, per account. Separately, there is an aggregate maximum of $25,000 per month across all of your accounts.
Whether that month is measured as a calendar month or as a rolling 30-day period is not yet finalised. FPT will publish the measurement period before launch and will not apply an unpublished interpretation to your account. See Aggregate Monthly Payout Maximum.
Two other per-person limits apply alongside it: a maximum of 5 active accounts across evaluation and funded, and a maximum combined allocation of $500,000. Both are covered in Account Limits and Allocation Caps.
Caps Do Not Step Back Down
Once your account reaches a milestone, the cap for that milestone is held for the life of that funded account. An unprofitable cycle does not demote you.
A breach is different. A breach ends the funded account, and the milestone ends with it. Funded resets are not available at launch, so a new funded account starts again at the first row of its table. See Breaches During the Funded Stage.
Scaling is also per account. A cap reached on one funded account does not transfer to another account you hold.
Review and Timing
Every payout is reviewed before approval, and review is a separate step from processing. FPT does not state a fixed time limit for review.
Approved payouts are processed within 48 hours of approval. See Payout Rules and Review and Why a Payout May Require Review.
