The Founder price you select is charged at checkout, not on the launch date. There is no authorisation-only hold, no delayed capture and no "we will bill you later" step.
The reason is simple: the launch trigger is counted in paid purchases. A reservation that has not been paid for cannot count toward the 100, and it cannot lock a price. Charging immediately is what makes the Founder offer a real commitment on both sides.
What "Charged Immediately" Means in Practice
- You create your FPT account.
- You choose an account size and apply the Founder code
FOUNDER. - Your payment is captured at that moment, at the Founder price.
- Your prelaunch dashboard access opens straight away.
- Your evaluation is activated when FPT launches.
On a one-time purchase, that single charge is the whole price. On a monthly plan, the first monthly payment is charged immediately and prepays the first month of evaluation access, which begins at activation rather than at purchase — so you are not paying for months in which you cannot trade. There is no auto-renewal before launch. See When Monthly Renewal Begins.
Why FPT Counts Paid Purchases
FPT launches on the earlier of 100 paid Founder purchases or 30 calendar days after the first paid Founder purchase. Both halves of that trigger depend on a payment actually having been captured:
- The 100 is a count of paid purchases. Unpaid reservations, waitlist signups and abandoned checkouts are not in it.
- The 30-day window starts from the first paid Founder purchase. Without a capture, there is no clock to start.
A purchase that is later refunded or charged back does not count toward the 100. That keeps the number honest rather than inflated. The full mechanism is in Launching at 100 Paid Founder Purchases.
What You Get for the Charge, Immediately
You are not paying into a void while you wait. From the moment payment is captured you have:
- A confirmed FPT Scale evaluation account in the size you bought.
- The Founder price locked to that purchase.
- Access to the basic prelaunch dashboard, with trading and unfinished features clearly marked "Coming soon".
FPT does not claim that prelaunch dashboard access is delivery of the evaluation service. The evaluation service is delivered when your account is activated. That distinction matters, and it is written into the terms rather than left to interpretation — see clause 5.3 and clause 9.3 of Founder Purchase and Launch Terms.
What Protects You
Three things.
A hard outer deadline. The launch window is 30 calendar days from the first paid Founder purchase, extendable once by up to 30 additional calendar days and no more. It is not open-ended. See The 30-Day Launch Target.
A mandatory refund if FPT does not launch. If FPT cancels the launch, or does not activate purchased evaluations by the end of the final extended window, affected customers receive a full refund to the original payment method. It is not discretionary and does not depend on you asking. See What Happens If FPT Does Not Launch.
A discretionary refund route before you trade. Separately from the above, FPT may consider a refund request made before any simulated trade has been placed on the evaluation. Approval is not guaranteed, and this route closes once you place a simulated trade. See Founder Refund Requests Before Trading.
Nothing here restricts a lawful payment dispute. FPT distinguishes a legitimate dispute from fraudulent or improper chargeback misuse — see Chargebacks and Payment Disputes.
What FPT Is Not Doing With the Money
Your payment is a program-access fee. It is not a trading deposit, not an investment and not customer funds held on your behalf. FPT does not hold customer trading capital, does not take deposits and does not route orders to Polymarket, Kalshi or any exchange. Everything inside an FPT account is simulated; payouts, when earned under the funded rules, are paid from company funds. See Are FPT Accounts Simulated? and the Simulation and Risk Disclosure.
If the Charge Fails
A declined or failed payment means the purchase did not complete — no account is reserved and no price is locked. Retry from the checkout, and if it fails again see Payment Declined or Failed.
